This is a story that I wrote last year in school as an assignment. It's not my best, I have to admit. We had to make fractured fairytales of the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf.
I know I could've made it better, but I didn't want to change it. Last year, we wrote these stories in school with our own characters and put a laminated cover on them and now I have a book. I have many other stories that I will be sharing from last year. This is a VERY LONG POST.

Once upon a time, in the middle of the rainforest, gleaming rays of sunshine blanketed a wonderful, cozy home full of monkeys. This family lived in the beautiful canopy in the trees. They lived happily with their company as they played with the bright flowers. The trees swayed and all the the animals would gather around and sing together.
Mother and Father Monkey lived with their three beloved children. All three children had layers of brown fur covering their slender bodies. Like all monkeys they had long tails and hands like humans. They enjoyed their life whether in the canopy or on land, spending time together. They loved swinging around tress and eating ripe bananas.
One day, Mother and Father Monkey called their three children into their little living room. They all sat down as Mother Monkey explained to the youngsters that they have to find their future and go out into the world. With his head hanging low, Father Monkey warned them to build safe homes in safe places and to be aware of the big bad Jaguar. With that, the parents urged their children out of the door of their old home.
After walking a few steps, the first little monkey decided to rest on the outskirts of the jungle. He lay down and sighed. Forgetting his father's words, he started plucking leaves to make a home. He worked until he was satisfied. He was tired and decided to rest inside his leaf home. He thought it was safe. And he was totally wrong.
The first monkey failed to noticed that there was the big bad Jaguar on the other side of the tree that he built his home on. The Jaguar had a huge body with glistening coats of gold and black fur. He was an evil jaguar, all right. He loved to eat monkeys. If he knew that there was a monkey on the other side of the tree, he would never have been sleeping on that side. The Jaguar awoke from his nap and stretched his paws outwards the way cats or dogs do sometimes. He just noticed the smell of bananas and the sound of snoring. With his yellow eyes, he managed to notice that ome of a little monkey. There was his dinner. With a mischievous smile, he began to cook up a scheme.
Suddenly, the Jaguar pounced over to the door of the first little monkey's home. He peered inside a hole inside the house, the monkey was asleep.
The Jaguar said "Little monkey, little monkey, let me come in. I have free bananas for you," disguising his voice.
The first little monkey woke up with a start and scurried to the door. He loved bananas. He opened the door and he found himself face to face with the big bad Jaguar. The monkey slammed the door and swung through the back door.
As fast as he could, the monkey swung from vine to vine with the Jaguar on the ground, racing behind him. He remembered that his brother said that he would live on the shore. Once he reached his destination, he stopped on a vine just above the door of the second monkey's home. He swooped down and kicked the door open. He scurried inside. The big ad Jaguar got confused and stopped in his tracks but kept going after. The monkeys slammed the door just in time. Then the first little monkey explained the dreadful news to the second little monkey, telling him about the big bad Jaguar.
The second little monkey explained how he had built his house.
A few hours earlier........
*flashback*
After he waved goodbye to his brothers and his parents, the second monkey started swinging in the trees, looking for a nice place to build his house. He gathered vines as he swung, and before long, he had a handful of vines. He found a nice place on the shore and built his vine home. It took a while, but the second monkey worked until he was satisfied. Then he decided to make lunch. He was almost finished when his brother swooped down from a vine and slammed through the door. The second monkey was blasted with wind.
*end of flashback*
The following day, the two monkeys hid together in the vine home. The Jaguar had been guarding the vine home, thinking of a plan. Then he got an idea.
He said "Little Monkeys, LIttle Monkeys, let me come in. I am your best friend from the canopy," in a nice tone.
The monkeys rushed out the door expecting a warm and cozy hug fron their friend. Instead, they found the cold, yellow eyes of the big bad Jaguar. They quickly slammed the vine door and reached for a vine on the roof to hoist them up to the emergency door. They swung back and forth until they kicked open the emergency door on the cieling.
They climbed out onto the roof and started swinging away. They swung from vine to vine, looking for their older brother. The moved for hours, looking and calling out for their brother. Finally, when they were about to give up, they met a nice frog. She said she had seen a monkey hard at work in the huge canopy in a hidden tree. They climbed into the canopy fast, remembering that the big bad jaguar was right behind them, trying to find a way to get up. Once they got to the canopy and found the hidden tree, they found out that yes, indeed the third monkey was hard at work. They called out his name in a soft voice and their brother peeked out of the hidden tree. He urged them to come inside his mansion. He told them how he had built the house.
*flashback*
After saying goodbye to his brothers, the third monkey decided to start his long journey. He swung for hours and hours until he found a nice hidden spot in the canopy. After he looked for some house materials, he found some bark and bamboo. He started to build his safe and sturdy house. He had been working for such a long time, he felt like lying down. Just then, he heard his brothers call his name. He peeked out of the house and urged the monkeys inside quickly, as they filled him in on the dreadful news.
*end of flashback*
The Jaguar reached the canopy just as the monkeys finished talking. He growled as he circled the house, eyeballing the door of the bark and bamboo home. Then, he got an idea.
"Little Monkeys, Little Monkeys, let me come in. We are your parents. We heard about the Jaguar and came to protect you," he said, disguising his voice.
The monkeys peeked through the door hole. There was the Jaguar. They yelped and ran away from the door. He growled loudly with rage and fury. He stuck his nose in a hole and tried to smash the hose. The monkeys each took a bamboo cane from the floor and started whacking the Jaguar. The Jaguar groaned and moaned until he freed himself.
After much rubbing and growling, the Jaguar got out of the canopy. He had wounds everywhere. The Jaguar raced back to his home. He no longer liked monkeys as a meal. He even considered becoming a vegetarian. He convinced himself that they were too bad tasting. He would never go near that canopy again.
The Jaguar was never seen again and the monkeys lived together happily ever after in the canopy, visiting their parents and friends and making new company. They were never disturbed again.
